Welcome!
The Smart Region Innovation Cluster started in 2011 with 15 SMEs and one college. Our cluster completely transformed after two milestones. At first, we mainly thought about the Central Transdanubia region, but our strategy, which was completed in 2012, included exploring Chinese markets, entering the common market and building relationships. As we reached and got to know the Chinese market, ideas, innovations and investor demands came one after another, so our membership changed. With the entry of Hungarian companies from across the border, we became international. Between 2012 and 2016, we participated in the work of countless delegations, negotiated with potential Chinese partners, and attended exhibitions and conferences in Shenzhen, Chongqing and Hong Kong. We founded the EU-xperience project to sell postgraduate adult training courses of Hungarian universities in Chinese and later mainly Asian markets.
In 2017, we founded the SMART WINE project to explore the export markets of Hungarian wineries, mainly outside Europe.
Between 2018 and 2024, despite the pandemic, we explored markets in Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Western China, and later in Uzbekistan, for our current and future cluster members. We also intensively examined market entry opportunities in other relationships, especially for the sale of paid training courses for wineries, food companies, the IT sector and universities.
We closed the Eu-perience project in 2023. Due to the transformation of Hungarian university leadership and the freezing of certain markets. (Russian, Ukrainian, Chinese, Uzbek)
The Smart Region Innovation Cluster will have 24 member companies by the summer of 2024, with more than a hundred professionals with higher education degrees and 10 PhD degrees among its member companies. Partner companies have joined from 2 neighboring countries. Our members can participate in two projects: Smart wine and Smart export. For wineries, there are opportunities for business acquisition on online platforms and joint innovation projects. For IT companies, we explore opportunities for participation in international projects. By taking advantage of the cluster's specific gravity, we have access to government procurement lists and international corporate cooperation opportunities.
